A LITTLE BIRD TOLD US THAT THERE WILL BE A SWITCH FROM FM RADIO TO DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY COMING SOON.
What does this mean for you the listener? The Government has made DAB the main broadcast platform. In effect this will be a combination of DAB radio, internet radio and radio via TV.
Internet has significantly affected the popularity of FM radio. It has also made it much easier for individuals and local communities to set up a radio station and get broadcasting.
Low cost and direct.
Norway began the switch off a few years ago. They long felt the disadvantage and expense of getting signals in a landscape of mountains and fjords. In the UK the changeover won’t be at least for a year or two.
Forest Row Radio will live-stream via the internet and while there some disadvantages we think that internet gives more versatility and freedom to radio stations as they gain in popularity.
We’ll give you a guide as to how you can tune in and ways of listening to Forest Row radio in your car as well as smartphone and other devices. Coming soon.
